New statewide survey finds majority support for $8.4 billion immunology and immunotherapy research bond, giving California families hope for new treatments and cures
SACRAMENTO, CA – A newly released Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) statewide survey1 finds that 55 percent of likely voters support Proposition 38, the Immunology Medical Research & Cures Initiative, to advance life-saving medical research.
Prop 38 will provide $8.4 billion in vitally needed funding to advance breakthrough immunology medical research to help prevent and treat cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and other persistent and debilitating diseases impacting nearly every California family.
The PPIC Californians and Their Government survey was conducted September 4–10, 2026, and examined voter views on the November election, legislative ballot measures, citizens’ initiatives and state and national issues.
“California voters understand the incredibly high stakes for patients and families facing devastating diseases,” said Robin Swanson, spokesperson for YES on Proposition 38. “At a time when we are seeing cuts from the federal government for critical research leading to delayed scientific and medical breakthroughs, this poll shows that an overwhelming majority of likely voters support YES on Prop 38 to advance immunology and immunotherapy research that will lead to treatments and breakthrough cures, saving more lives.”
