“We are grateful that a majority of California voters want our state to lead the way in finding treatments and cures for devastating diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and autoimmune disorders that affect millions of families,” said Robin Swanson, spokesperson for YES on Prop 38. “At a time when federal funding cuts have disrupted medical research, Californians understand that we cannot afford to put life-saving discoveries on hold. With Proposition 38, California has an opportunity to turn scientific breakthroughs into lifesaving treatments and accelerate the search for cures.”
According to the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) Statewide Survey– Californians and Their Government:
A majority of likely voters (57%) would vote yes on Proposition 38 (Authorizes Bonds For Immunology Medical Research), which would authorize $8.4 billion in general obligation bonds. About four in ten would vote no (41%). The share in support is similar to a month ago (55% yes, September 2026). Today, partisans are divided (70% Democrats, 53% independents, 37% Republicans) and majorities across regions and demographic groups are in support of Proposition 38.
